Clubhouse - Autumn 2 - Week 1

Date: 4th Nov 2022 @ 4:34pm

IMG_2490(1).JPGWhat a lovely first week back we have had!

It was lovely to welcome the children back on Monday and hear all about the fun that they had over the half term holidays.

On Monday, we had some children who were very excited about Halloween, so we decided to make some skeleton crafts using cotton buds. First, the children used their prior knowledge to discuss the bones that might be in a skeleton and carefully cut down the cotton buds to the correct size. The children then stuck them onto black card to create the skeleton effect. The persistence paid off and the final products looked fantastic, the children couldn’t wait to take them home to decorate their houses.

Excitement filled the air this week in clubhouse as the children chatted about the filming, they had been doing in their classes for the kindness video. The children all had the buzz and asked to watch the previous year’s kindness videos for inspiration. They enjoyed watching and coming up with ideas that they could use in the video this year. We can’t wait for you all to see it.

Although the nights have been getting much darker, the children have still been able to spend some time outside before having their snack. They have enjoyed whizzing around on the scooters and setting up courses to race around. Hopefully the weather stays dry in the coming weeks and we can continue to do this.

We hope you all have a fantastic weekend and enjoy bonfire night - stay safe everyone.

And just like that, half term is here!

We have all had a lovely, very tiring first half term and I am sure everyone is ready for a well-deserved rest.

On Monday, the children created a hair salon in club where everyone was invited to get their hair styled. The children waited patiently and with much anticipation to see which hairstyle they were going to receive. We definitely have some budding hairdressers on our hands.

On Thursday, we decided to have our own disco in club for the younger children and the children who did not want to attend the school disco. The children loved requesting their own songs, showing off their dance moves and, in the process, burnt off lots of energy dancing around club.

The role play area has been very popular, especially with the younger children. They have really enjoyed dressing up, taking on the roles of different characters and using their fantastic imaginations within their play.

The nights are starting to get darker, but that isn’t stopping us from getting outside to play some group games and whizz around the playground on the scooters. Let’s hope the nights stay this mild after the half term.

We hope you all have a fantastic week off, and we can’t wait to see you all back, nice and refreshed.

We have had another busy week here in club!

After some requests from the children, we have been doing all things ‘autumn’ this week. The children have taken part in some nature hunts, where they explored their local surroundings and discovered lots of autumnal objects. The children then used their senses to examine all of their findings and then decided to make a nature collage with them. Following on from this, the children asked to make some autumn playdough where they worked together to collect the correct ingredients and weigh them out in order to make the perfect playdough which they thoroughly enjoyed playing with.

Outside, we have been playing some group games including duck, duck, goose, What’s the time, Mr Wolf and capture the flag. The children were great at taking turns and working together in teams which was lovely to see and a great time was had by all.

As always, the role play corner and dressing up has been very popular. It is amazing to see what great imaginations the children have and to see them engrossed in imaginative play.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, see you all next week for out final week before half term!

Another week has flown by and we are one step closer to half term.

The weather has taken a bit of a turn for the worst this week meaning that the children haven’t been able to spend as much time as they would have liked outside. However, they have enjoyed lots of other activities instead. Some children decided to create a talent show to brighten up a rainy day. We had singing, dancing and even some comedy acts thrown in. The children loved it and their smiley faces and laughter definitely brightened a gloomy evening.

In our craft area, the children have been getting creative and decided to make an assortment of pompom animals using lots of different craft materials. At times, it was very fiddly but the children persevered and they were very happy with their finished pieces.

The children are all feeling very autumnal and we have had some requests to make some autumn playdough which they are very excited to make next week. As a group, the children used the iPad to research the ingredients that we would need to make playdough and then helped to add it onto the shopping order ready for making on Monday.

We have been very lucky this week, and have had some new toys donated to club. The children in club are extremely grateful and have thoroughly enjoyed playing with them. We always appreciate any donations of pre-loved toys.

We hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

We’ve all had another fun week in Clubhouse!

The lovely weather at the beginning of the week meant that we were able to enjoy lots of outdoor play before the nights start drawing in. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting creative with our dancing ribbons and explored different movements and ways to create a variety of shapes and patterns. The scooters have also been a popular choice with the children whizzing around the playground trying to burn off some of that extra energy.

Inside, the children have showed some fantastic fine motor skills and had lots of patience whilst making hamma beads. It was lovely to see the children working together to select the right colours to make patterns which ended with some beautiful finished pieces.

The playing cards have also been a big hit with some of the older children taking the lead and leading games such as snap and go fish where the children had great turn taking and communication skills. It was lovely to see some of our new starters joining in too.

Just a polite reminder to ask if parents can make sure that their children’s jumpers and coats are clearly labelled as we have so many children in club and would hate for anything to go missing.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and let’s hope that the weather improves!

What a fantastic week of fun that we have had in Clubhouse.

The role play area has been buzzing with excitement this week and it has been lovely to see children of all ages getting involved in imaginative play and enjoying every moment of it. Our hairdresser’s area has also given the children a chance to brush up on their hairdressing skills which they then continued to practice on each other and some of the adults.

In the craft area, after watching the Queens funeral at the weekend, some children decided that they wanted to remember the queen by colouring in pictures and making some lovely stories about her which were very moving and lovely to read.

Our table top games have been popular again this week, in particular, the robot game. The children raced against the clock to construct a robot before the timer was up and the pieces fell to the floor. The children have also been playing ‘Dobble’ where they had to use great observation skills to race against their friends to match identical symbols on the cards.

Although the end of the week took a turn for the worse with the weather, the children have still enjoyed blowing off some steam and playing games outside. We can tell that some of us have been practicing our tennis skills over the summer!

As always, we hope you all have a great weekend!

We have had another quick week in Clubhouse this week.

The children have all settled really well back into the routines of club which has been lovely to see.

As always, the craft area has been extremely popular. The children have put their fine motor skills to good use using the loom bands to create an abundance of designs and creations. Some children have made bracelets, whilst some children have carefully attached the loom bands together to create some very imaginative animals.

It has been lovely to get outside this week. On Tuesday, the children asked if they could clean the scooters which had become a bit dusty over the summer. They had great joy in getting the hose pipe out and assembling it in order to clean all of the equipment. The children showed great team work and persistence.

Our new construction area has been a big hit with the children this week. They have been busy putting together, taking apart, fixing, stacking and knocking down their different creations.

Next week we are hoping to look at the topic ‘all about us’ where the children will create portraits of themselves to stick around clubhouse – we can’t wait to show you the finished results.

We hope you all have a nice weekend, see you on Tuesday.

What a fantastic first week back we have had!

It has been so nice welcoming everyone back into Clubhouse this week and especially seeing some new smiley faces. We can not believe how much everyone has grown over the summer and it has been a pleasure having everyone back in club and hearing about the lovely things that everyone has been up to over the summer holidays.

Our craft area has been very popular this week and the children’s fine motor skills have been put to the test designing and creating their own jewellery. The children were so proud of all of their finished products and we have even had a request to buy some more beads because they are enjoying it so much.

The sun finally started to make an appearance towards the end of the week and the children thoroughly enjoyed going outside to play in the new playground. They have loved having the extra space to run around and play.

Following on from the school topic ‘Encanto’, the children have been colouring and decorating pictures to display in our gallery and had fun dressing up in the role play area and acting out the story of Encanto.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

What a fantastic final week we have had in Clubhouse!

We can’t believe that it is the end of the year already, this year seems to have flown by.

We would also like to wish a massive good luck to the year 6’s that are moving onto their new schools. We will miss you all but make sure you come back and visit us soon and maybe in a few years, you can come and help in club!

Finally, we hope you all have an amazing summer and we can’t wait to see you all back in September with lots of stories about your summer holidays.

And just like that, another week is over!

As always, Clubhouse has been a hive of fun and laughter this week, we are amazed that the children still have so much energy!

On Wednesday, some children wanted to put on a show for the rest of Clubhouse. As a result of this, we have decided to hold a ‘Clubhouse has got talent’ next Wednesday in club. Everyone is so excited about watching and performing and we can’t wait to see the children’s many talents.

Our craft area has been extremely popular again this week and the children have loved displaying their masterpieces in our gallery in club – think we need to find a bigger wall to display them all on!

The children have loved going onto the field again this week to burn off some of that excess energy. They enjoyed getting some extra practice in for sports day at the beginning of the week and held their own sports day on Thursday. The team spirit and it was great to see them cheering each other on and working as part of a team.

Just a reminder that Clubhouse is not available on Friday 15th July as school closes at 1pm.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Where has this year gone? We can’t believe another week has flown by and we only have 2 weeks left!

We have had another busy week in clubhouse. Continuing with our beach theme, the children enjoyed making some colourful jellyfish in the craft area. They carefully selected different materials and creatively manipulated them to make the desired effects.

The junk modelling area has made a reappearance and some children worked together to make a new school mascot called ‘Trinity’. It took a lot of resilience and trial and error to get the finished design right but it looked amazing once it was complete.

As the weather was a bit miserable on Wednesday evening, some children decided to create their own band. After lots of practice, they proudly put on a performance for the rest of club which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

As always, the children have loved playing outside. As Wimbledon has started this week, we decided to get the tennis rackets out. It was lovely to see the older children helping and showing the younger children how to play.

Just a quick reminder that there will be no after school club on Friday 15th July as the school finishes at 1pm.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, not long left until the summer!

As it has been so hot this week, the children have enjoyed a variety of activities in the shade outside and even had a few ice lollies to try and cool us off. Please can you remember to pack sun cream in the children’s bags so that we can top it up before going outside.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Yet again, we have had a fantastic week in Clubhouse which hasn’t been short of fun filled activities.

Continuing with our animal topic, the children have thoroughly enjoyed designing homes for a variety of different animals in our small world area. They used a variety of craft and construction resources to design a habitat suitable for each individual animal. We discussed the different environments and habitats that animals live in and the children’s knowledge was amazing!

Following on from this, some children wanted to design their own animal masks in the craft area, the children carefully selected the correct colours to create their animals and then enjoyed using the masks in some role play activities.

Another popular activity this week was bracelet making using the loom bands, although it was quite tricky at first, with lots of perseverance and a few demonstrations, the children were able to design some fantastic bracelets, rings and keyrings.

On the field, the children wanted to design a bug hotel for all of the animals and insects in our local environment. Firstly, they went on the hunt for suitable, natural materials to use and then working together as a team they assembled the bug hotel.

As the nights are getting warmer, please can you ensure the children have sun cream in their bags that they can reapply in Clubhouse before going outside.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

We have had a lovely first week back in school!

It was lovely to welcome everyone back into Clubhouse this week and hear about all of the exciting things that they got up to over the half term. We can’t believe we are in the final half term, if the weeks are as quick as this one, then summer will be here before we know it!

After lots of requests form the children, we have spent most of our evenings playing on the field. The children really enjoy having so much space to run around and play in and the sunny evenings have definitely made this more enjoyable for everyone.

Inside, the children have enjoyed playing in the role play area, small world area and especially the construction area. As always, the children have showed off their amazing creative skills and constructed some spectacular models by working together – team work makes the dream work.

The children have been playing a variety of table top games this week which they have been selecting and playing, a few favourites have been battleships, guess who and the headband game. They all got our minds working and helped to build on our resilience.

As the weather was not so nice on Thursday, the children suggested having a film night. The children got cosy with a cup of hot chocolate and chose to watch Paddington Bear 2. They all loved it and have asked if we can have film nights more often!

We can’t thank all of the children enough for all of their help in club, every night the children are extremely eager to help with the preparation and setting up of snack and with any other jobs that there are to do.

Just a quick reminder to make sure that the children’s names are on all of their belongings as we don’t want anything getting lost in club as there are so many children that now attend.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

We have had a fun filled week we have had and we can’t believe that half term is here already!

On going with all of the Jubilee celebrations, the children wanted to make their own crowns in club, the children carefully selected a variety of sequins, glitter and stickers to create their fantastic jewelled crowns and the children were proud of their finished results. The children also continued to decorate bunting in red, white and blue to hang up in club ready for the jubilee celebrations on Friday.

Continuing with the Jubilee celebrations, the children asked to play some party games. We played some games with balloons and even dusted off our dancing shoes in preparation for a game of musical statues. The laughter and giggles filled the air and everyone had a great time.

The children have continued to enjoy going to play on the field this week. They were able to burn off some excess energy playing football and running around the field. The children also put their balancing skills to the test as they manoeuvred their way around the trim trail in record time – we are definitely improving.

On Friday after the excitement of TSP’s Got Talent, we had a picnic style snack to celebrate the Jubilee, the jam tarts were a big hit and everyone enjoyed making their own wraps.

We hope you all have a lovely half term and we are looking forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for next term.

We can’t believe we are at the end of another week in Clubhouse but what a fun filled week we have had!

We have had a very mathematical week, after a request for some sudoku puzzles, the puzzle bug was in the air. The children used their logical thinking and enjoyed the challenge. They then worked in groups to try and design some of their own puzzles for the other children.

In the craft area, the children have been getting creative in preparation for the TSP talent show. While some children designed their outfits, others created props and masks – we can’t wait until the final performances.

Outside has been popular again, the children particularly enjoyed using he drain pipes to create ramps for the toy cars to go down. We discussed how we could make the cars go faster and how we could make them go slower and after designing the ramps, the race commenced.

The mornings have been very relaxed in club as some of the Year 6’s prepared for their SATS. Well done to you all for completing them and you can look forward to all the exciting things you have planed for the rest of your year.

What a brilliant week we have had in Clubhouse!

Even though it has only been a short week, club has been packed with activities and the fun just has not stopped.

Following on from the children’s request for an ‘under the sea’ theme. The children decide to create some of their own rainbow fish using the TSP colours. The children used their prior knowledge to discuss what fish look like and thought about how we could create scales on the fish. After some discussions, the children decided to use celery sticks as paint brushes which created the illusion of the fish having scales – what a creative idea!

Inside, the children worked as a team to create a large train track. The children then used the stickle bricks to design different stations that the train could stop at. At times, it was a little fiddly to create the designs that they were imagining, but, the children showed great resilience and persevered until they were able to create their vision.

As always, outside has been extremely popular (with the help of the sunnier evenings). The children enjoyed playing a variety of playground games. They especially enjoyed using one of the large skipping ropes to skip with. They showed great jumping and coordination skills as they negotiated the skipping rope and worked well as a team ensuring that everyone got a turn.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

The week has flown by and we can’t believe its Friday already!

As always, clubhouse has been extremely busy this week. It has been lovely seeing some new faces in club whilst parents attended class meetings and hopefully we will see you all again soon.

The role play area has been extremely popular, the reappearance of all the dressing up clothes has caused great excitement. The children just can’t get enough of transforming into different characters and showing off their imaginative designs on the catwalk.

Outside this week we got creative with the chalks, by using our shadows we created a variety of shapes to draw around. The children also decided that they wanted to play some playground games, so they took it in turns to think of a game and explain the rules to the other children who showed fantastic listening skills.

Inside, the fun continued and the craft table has been busy as usual. The children have used their imaginations and a variety of materials to create their own models and pictures.

Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

What a fantastic first week back we have had!

The short week has definitely flown by but it was lovely to welcome all of the children back into Clubhouse. As always, we were greeted with lovely smiles, laughter and some very grown up children - there have definitely been some growth spurts over the Easter holidays.

Summer is on its way and the weather has finally been nice enough to venture over to the field. The children have thoroughly enjoyed making the most of their time outside and have loved every minute of it! Whilst on the field we played football, negotiated the activity equipment and cooled off under the shady wooded area whilst making daisy chains.

On Friday, we celebrated Earth Day. To do this we created a paper plate earth each, the children carefully considered their designs and chose some appropriate materials to create them. Some children even suggested using some recycled materials to create their earth which was a fantastic idea!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Clubhouse - Spring 2 - Week 6

Date: 1st Apr 2022 @ 10:32am

Easter has finally arrived in Clubhouse this week and what a busy week we have had!

We have had a variety of Easter activities in clubhouse this week and the fun has not stopped! Towards the beginning of the week the children enjoyed making some Easter nest cakes. The older children took the lead and showed great organisation skills. On Thursday, Clubhouse had their very own Easter Egg hunt. The race was on to collect as many straws as possible. The straws were then exchanged for mini eggs and some children were lucky enough to find the mini golden straws which were exchanged for big Easter eggs. The children showed great sportsmanship and had a lovely time helping each other to find the straws.

As always, the craft table has been a hive of chatter and excitement as the children created their own Easter crafts and cards. Some children used a variety of resources to design their own models and had great pleasure in painting them and adding the finishing touches.

Some children decided to carry out their very own science experiement on Wednesday night. They waned to discover which ball bounced the highest. After making some predictions, they carefully bounced the balls and measure how high they bounced and recorded their findings - what great scientists we have in TSP!

The colder weather has not stopped us this week and the children are still enjoying their time outside. The children helped to pant some plants and have taken great pride in making sure that they are watered daily -  let's hope they last the Easter holidays!

We hope you have a lovely Easter break and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon.

What a beautiful sunny week we have had in Clubhouse!

We have been loving the warm evenings and have spent most of our time outside, creating new games and making the most of the fresh air. Some older children relished in taking the lead and created an exciting basketball game that everyone enjoyed getting involved with. The children were gripped, as they worked together in teams to score the most baskets in as many ways as possible - the more inventive, the better!

Inside, there was a real buzz and enthusiasm for Easter, the children created and decorated some lovely Easter baskets and coloured in some beautiful pictures. After the excitement of the Mother’s Day concert, a lot of the younger children took to the craft table to make some presents for their loved ones for Mother’s Day. There were some extremely creative ideas, and we think the children’s loved ones are in for a treat!

It was lovely to see some old and new faces back in club on Wednesday evening during parents evening, we hope that they enjoyed their time and hopefully they will return to club soon.

See you all next week for our last week before Easter. Just a reminder that afterschool club is not available on Friday 1st April as school is finishing early for the Easter holidays.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and make the most of this weather.

We can’t believe that it is the end of another week and what an exciting week we have had!

Continuing with our spring animal topic, the childen made some very colourful spring chicks. The children began by carefully painting some paper plates and then decorated the plates with googly eyes and a variety of colourful feathers. The end results were lovely and the children thoroughly enjoyed using their chicks to act out some imaginative stories. The children have picked up where they left off last week with their love for our ‘junk modelling’ area and a variety of models have been produced, we have had some robots, sharks, spaceships and even a Spongebob Squarepants mask.

As the weather was a bit miserable on Wednesday, we decided to go to the hall to play a game of dodgeball and burn off some energy. Some of the older children took the lead and delivered the instructions and rules of the game to the other children. The children showed great team work, communication skills and sportsmanship throughout and a great time was had by all. The rest of the week made up for the bad weather on Wednesday and we were able to make the most of our outdoor area – spring is definitely on it's way!

On Friday, we celebrated Red Nose Day in clubhouse and had a ‘design you own red nose’ competition. The children put their creative hats on and had some very inventive ideas – it was far too hard to chose a winner so it was biscuits all round for everyone who took part.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

We have had yet another wonderful week in Clubhouse!

It is lovely to see the children coming into club and settling straight into a variety of activities. The older children are really beginning to take the lead and have enjoyed creating and guiding games for the other children. The smiles were infectious and club was filled with non-stop laughter.

The book corner has been a big hit, the children have loved snuggling into the sofa with a nice soft blanket and taking turns reading and acting out some fairy tales to see if the other children could guess which book they were reading.

Our mathematic skills came into good use on Wednesday, when a group of girls decided to become the teachers. We worked together as a group to work out the answers to the tricky questions which had been written on the whiteboards.

On the craft table this week, the children used a variety of materials and resources to create some beautiful collage pictures. The children also explored our ‘junk modelling’ box to see what creations they could make – we had some very imaginative pieces.

As always, we are hoping for warmer evenings but hopefully we don’t have to wait too long. We are still making the most of our outdoor area for now and hopefully in the weeks to come we can go onto the field.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, see you next week.

Wow, what a busy week we have had in clubhouse!

We began the week with pancake day, after a discussion about pancake day and how it represents the start of lent, the bake off began! Pancakes were flying all over the kitchen – and that was just from the staff! The children thoroughly enjoyed making the pancake mixture, cooking the pancakes and then choosing their favourite toppings. We had some lemon and sugar lovers, but most children seemed to chose the bananas and chocolate sauce, they were a big hit! Whilst some groups were cooking inside, we had some pancake races outside, practising our balancing skills to see whether we could keep the pancakes in the pans.

Towards the end of the week, we celebrated World Book Day. What a lovely sight to see such a variety of costumes and characters. Some children decided to create their own stories using the characters that we had in club and act it out – what creative thinkers we have at TSP. The children also got crafty and made their very own bookmarks to use when reading their favourite books at home.

The children constructed an array of models this week using our Lego, there was an extremely impressive layered house and some children even made their own marble maze. In teams, the children designed mazes for the other teams to complete before the timer ran out.

Unfortunately, the weather took a bit of a turn for the worse this week so we didn’t get outside as much as we would have liked, but we are hoping to venture out onto the field in the coming weeks once it dries up a bit.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, see you all next week.
