Year 2 - Spring 2 - Week 6

What a final week we have had this week in Year 2!

On Tuesday, we had an amazing trip to Martin Mere, where we learnt all about the different habitats there were as well as the animals that lived there. We were amazed at all of the different jobs they do to keep the habitat safe. The children had a lovely time completing the activities and were really invested by the informative information. In the afternoon, we really enjoyed our wild walk and looking at all of the beautiful, exotic birds.

On Wednesday, we had our Easter service at Trinity St Peter’s Church. We were all really proud of the children’s acting, reading and singing. The children all had an amazing time and it was lovely to see the smiles on their faces throughout the performance. This linked in well with our RE topic from this half term of The Easter Story.

On Thursday, we enjoyed our Computing day by creating our own sequels to well known stories. We started with the stimulus of The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs and then brainstormed our own ideas. The children were so creative and made some amazing books on their IPads.

All week, we have been designing and making our very own moving vehicles. From ambulances, to fire engines, to taxis, we really have had a wide array of vehicles. The children really enjoyed the challenge of putting the axels and wheels onto the vehicles and persevered amazingly. The children were really proud of their final creations and were so impressed by how well they worked when they tested them outside.

In Science, the children continued to look at forces and what affect they have on different objects. We had an amazing time looking at forces such as gravity and air pressure.

With it being Easter, we completed our very own Easter cards. The children designed and created their own eggs before writing their lovely messages inside.
