Everyone in Year 2 have worked their socks off this week and all the adults couldn’t be prouder! Huge well done for your effort, concentration and determination this week.

In our collective worship we have been looking at perseverance. This week our focus was on the Hindu religion and the story of Rama and Sita. The story is about how Rama persevered to rescue Sita from the demon King Ravana.

In RE this week, we discussed how Jesus went to quiet places to pray and meet with God and looked at photographs of the countryside around Galilee. After this, we looked at photos of churches now and how these are special places for Christians to meet today.

We continued our work in art on the sculptor Andy Goldsworthy. This week, we created paths and walls outside the classroom using the natural materials collected. The children are enjoying being outside creating their art sculptures. If you look carefully, you may see some around as you wait to pick the children up!

In Science, we have focused on a balanced diet and looked at the different food groups. The children were very curious about how people adapt their diet based on whether they are vegan, vegetarian or have an allergy. This was a very interesting discussion and the children showed genuine interest to what everyone offered to our discussion.

It has been lovely to focus on athletics out in the sunshine. This week we have been working on our throwing and jumping techniques.

The children have begun some fabulous arts and crafts in preparation for the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. On Friday 27th May, we will be celebrating the Queen’s jubilee with a Year 2 picnic. Please see a message from School Spider for more details.

Wishing you a restful weekend,

Team Year 2
