Year 2 are more than ready for a well deserved rest! We have completed all our English and Maths booklets and showed great determination and positive attitudes all week. Well done everyone!

In Collective Worship, we continued discussing perseverance and began by listening to Bruno Mars singing “Don’t Give Up”. Then, we discussed the bible story of Noah having the huge task of building the ark and never giving up. Year 2 then discussed a big task they have completed and how they persevered.

This week has been RSE week, and we have looked at how humans grow from young to old and completed timelines indicating key features of each part of the life cycle. We then looked at the differences in the life cycles of different types of animals such as chickens, frogs, bears and butterflies. Finally, we had a very respectful circle time about secrets and surprises. We identified good secrets and worry secrets. The children decided that it is best to let a trusted adult know if they feel they have a worry secret.

In PE, we focused on jumping high like dolphins. We worked in pairs to encourage our partners to use the correct skill to jump as high as they could. The children loved jumping high to reach different types of fish that dolphins would catch for their dinner.

On Wednesday, we were wowed in the spectacular Science Show. We learnt all about space and observed experiments which taught us about forces. Thank you Mad Science! The children brought home a letter about a Mad Science after school club that will take place on a Wednesday after half term. If you would like your child to have a place in the club, please see the contact details on the letter.

A huge congratulations to all the children who participated in our talent show auditions. Every act was extremely entertaining and demonstrated dedication. We were all thoroughly entertained.

We had a great time celebrating the Platinum Jubilee by looking at the life of Queen Elizabeth II and sketching life like portraits of her Royal Highness. We even went on a treasure hunt to find clues about her coronation. There was also time to create bunting and flags to decorate outside our class for the jubilee picnic. Celebrations continued with us all going into the hall for the talent show where we saw members of the Royal family and Britain’s Got Talent judges! We had an amazing day that we will never forget!

Have a wonderful half term break.
