Another week full of highlights and achievements within the Year 3 classroom!

We have continued to explore our Collective Worship value of the month, Perseverance. This time, we looked longer term, and each tasked ourselves with a challenge that we would like to achieve by the end of Year 3 (which is only a few weeks!). We then gave ourselves three things that we can do to achieve it before hiding it away until the last day of term when we will see if we have achieved it.

In English, we started the week by planning our stories for the book ‘Journey’. We took our time to carefully plan what language we wanted to use and how the girl might feel at each point. Later, we began to write. With calming music playing in the background, we put our heads down and began to write out our new detailed and intriguing stories. We cannot wait to put them in our author books next week!

In Maths, we got practical, using our knowledge of fractions to complete a range of fun and interesting activities including a colour by number. Fractions has been both an interesting and challenging topic for us all!

In Art we continued with our topic of jewellery and created another bracelet using a different technique. Using a range of materials and apparatus we created detailed and interesting bracelets for our friends and loved ones.

In Science, we put our lab coats back on and completed another experiment, this time to test the strength of a range of magnets. Using materials from in and around the classroom, we tested the strength of the magnet’s attractions and repulsion!

Swimming was fantastic again this week! We loved jumping in and developing our swimming skills, this week we paid special attention on our breathing, ensuring we kicked our legs whilst breathing to ensure we didn’t stop moving. It was a lot trickier that it sounds! Another great lesson was recorders, this week we learnt two new notes and started to learn how to put a range of notes together to make a tune.

Please see the book recommendations provided this month from the charity 'Read for Good'. There is a book for all ages from 3-11 to perhaps inspire the next book purchase or local library loan. Happy reading!
