Nursery - Autumn 1 Week 2

What a colourful week we have had in Nursery, full of beauty, brightness, bravery and birthdays!
As we have continued exploring ‘Elmer’ by David McKee, we have been thinking about the beautiful message of celebrating our own uniqueness and understanding that it is okay to be different and simply be ourselves. The children have enjoyed creating their very own individual elephants, making their own choices and celebrating what makes each one special. We have had great fun recalling the story, naming Elmer's many colours and remembering how he discovered that his friends loved him for exactly who he was.
Our wonderful ‘Reading Festival Celebrations' Tent, has become a special, cosy space for sharing stories and developing our love of reading. The intriguing objects inside have sparked lots of curiosity and conversation, and we have begun using the words ‘author’ and ‘illustrator’ as we discover more about the people who bring our favourite books to life. We were also very excited to visit our ‘Osborne Book Fair’. A huge thank you to thei representative for sharing such a wonderful collection of books with us. We were so proud of how beautifully Nursery sat, listened and joined in!
Our first PE lesson was another very exciting adventure! The children were delighted to have a large space to run, move and explore and were amazing at listening to our safety rules. They certainly smashed their first PE lesson and had such fun being active together!
During Early Listening, we have been exploring what it means to be a whole-body listener, with lots of giggles as we practised repeating funny words and phrases.
In Maths, we linked our learning to Elmer's colourful body, exploring colours and even becoming colour detectives on our very own colour hunt!
As family photographs have been arriving in Nursery, we have also enjoyed sharing them with our friends and talking about what a family is and who makes up our own special families.
We really must say how incredibly proud we are of the children. They are settling so beautifully into school life and embracing all the busyness, new experiences and routines that Nursery can bring. From their first PE lesson to taking the class register to the office, they are becoming more confident and independent every day. Such big steps for little people!
What a wonderful week of colour, creativity, curiosity, courage and connection. We hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing our little ones again on Monday, ready for more adventures and opportunities to SHINE bright!

Reminders for this half term:-
Please could you ensure that your child's belongings are labelled, including their coat, water bottles and shoes.
Please do regularly check in with your child's Tapestry account.
If you haven't done so already, please could you send your child in with their labelled puddle suit and wellies, ready to be able to access our outdoor sand, mud kitchen and start Forest School.
