Nursery - Autumn Term 1 Week 2
Date: 11th Sep 2025 @ 5:07pm
What a 'colourful' week we have all had, as we focussed on the book, 'Elmer' by David McKee. In sharing the story we learnt that Elmer was a brightly coloured patchwork elephant - we had great fun naming all his colours! We discovered that Elmer lived with a herd of grey elephants and in attempting to look like the rest of the herd, he finally realised his friends loved him for who he is.
After creating our own 'Elmer', we compared our work, discovering they all looked different and beautiful. This made us realise that it's okay to be different, it's what makes us unique and shine brightly.
Tuesday, we found that our class bear 'Ted' had left us a book, 'Where's My Teddy' by Jez Alborough. Ted also needed our help! He had lost his little cuddly teddy bear! Reading the book, it helped us think about how Ted was feeling. We linked these feelings to our class 'Colour Monsters', giving each feeling a name. Luckily, Nursery are great detectives and managed to find Ted's bear super quick!
As our family photographs have been coming into class, we have spent time sharing them with our friends and talking about what a family is and who makes up our family.
I also, just wish to say how well the children are settling into school life and all the busyness that it can bring. They smashed their first PE lesson and are enjoying the responsibility of taking the class register to the office! Such big steps for little people!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and looking forward to seeing you on Monday.
