I can’t believe we have now reached the end of the Spring term! How fast has it gone when you are enjoying life!

This week has been full of wonder, delight and excitement as we approach the Easter break.

We began our week with an Easter-themed PE session, where we moved around the space as the Easter Bunny, followed by a very amusing game of ‘Easter Bunny says…’. There were lots of giggles, and of course we ended with the ever-popular ‘Sleeping Bunnies’… what else could it be!

Back in the classroom, we have enjoyed a wide range of Easter-themed activities. Our learning environment has been full of creativity, from making Easter baskets to baking delicious crispy cake Easter nests. We also explored the tradition of hot cross buns and enjoyed a food tasting experience together.

As part of our learning, we spent time exploring the Easter story, helping the children begin to understand why Easter is special. This linked beautifully to our discussions about new life. We also explored baby animal names, which really got us thinking and wondering about the young of different creatures.

We also enjoyed our Godly Play session on Thursday, with a visit from Caroline. She shared a story about friendship, linking it beautifully to the Easter story and bringing it to life through the use of meaningful props. The children listened attentively, engaging thoughtfully and asked insightful questions throughout; creating a special time for reflection and storytelling together.

In Early Listening, we explored egg shakers, carefully listening to match sounds and wondering what might be inside. We also shared Easter-themed stories, including ‘Odd Eggs, which sparked great discussion about which creatures hatch from eggs. This linked beautifully to our learning about Easter as a time of new life. We explored baby animal names, which really got us thinking and wondering about the young of different creatures.

In Maths, we thoroughly enjoyed singing ‘When Goldilocks Went to the House of the Bears’ while exploring the concepts of full, empty, half-full, nearly empty and nearly full. We had lots of fun pouring water into different containers to support our understanding and even applied this at lunchtime by talking about how much we had drunk! We have also taken time to revisit and recap some of our previous learning.

We also acknowledged World Maths Day this week by taking part in two exciting challenges. The children worked together to fill an oval with different patterns and then had a fantastic time trying to build the longest line possible using Mobilo within five minutes… and we absolutely smashed it!

As always, we have continued caring for our growing plants and can confidently say we have some very green fingers! Our seeds are growing beautifully, and this week we also planted potatoes and flowering bulbs. We are very excited to continue observing these as they grow.

We were very proud to show off our Easter bonnets on Wednesday. The weather was kind to us as the rain and wind eased while we walked to and from church. The children were absolutely fantastic—singing their songs so beautifully and confidently taking part in the Easter bonnet parade, which can feel quite daunting for our little ones. It was so wonderful to see the Church full of family and friends and we wish to thank you for attending and for all your support with the creative bonnet designs.

We were also lucky enough to enjoy a visit from the Easter Bunny, which brought lots of excitement, dancing and smiles. Courtesy of Team TSP, the children found a very tasty Easter treat as they took part in a very exciting Easter egg hunt, which was a definite highlight of the week!

We ended our week by talking about doing the things we love—which of course involved a little bit of dancing!

Well, that’s it for two weeks! Wishing you all a wonderful Easter break filled with time to rest, recharge, have fun and, of course, enjoy plenty of chocolate!
