Nursery - Spring 2 - Week 5

What a lovely week we have had in Nursery.

This week we have been learning all about Spring. We read a lovely story called ‘Hello Spring’ by Jo Lindley and looked for signs of spring in the outdoor area. The children talked about what they could see and hear. The children learnt that in Spring we welcome new life. We talked about what happens on farms during this time and the children enjoyed working together to match animals to their young.

On Tuesday the children learned about ‘Ramadan’. We discussed the meaning of ‘fasting’ as Muslims won't eat between dawn and sunset. We discussed how Muslim people like to show acts of kindness during this time, and the children came up with ideas of how they can help people and be kind. The children then enjoyed looking at mehndi patterns and had a go at drawing around their hand to copy their own patterns.

On Wednesday, the children walked over to Forest School. We started by looking at the signs of Spring in the forest area. As the children were walking around they found five little chicks and a note. The chicks had asked if Nursery could kindly make five nests so that they could lay their eggs. The children searched around the outdoor area to look for little sticks and leaves that could be used to make the nests. As a thank you, the chicks had left the children a sweet treat back in Nursery. Well done everyone!

Thank you to Caroline for coming into Nursery to talk about the Easter story and the meaning of Easter. We really enjoy your sessions and look forward to the Easter Bonnet service next week. In preparation for Easter, the children have been working so hard to make Easter cards for their families. They are so excited to take them home to the people that they love.

Talking homework: Over the Easter break if you are out and about, please can you talk to the children about the signs of Spring that they can notice.
