What a treasure-filled week it has been in Nursery!

Our week has been full of excitement as the children eagerly and confidently shared their pirate treasures from home. It was truly special to see each child bring in something meaningful to them and talk about it with such passion. The joy this brought to the whole group was wonderful - friends listened so carefully, asked thoughtful questions and showed genuine interest in one another’s special items. These moments really highlight the sense of belonging we have in our Nursery family.

In Phonics, we have been introduced to the sound ‘a’, and the children are really beginning to engage enthusiastically with our activities. It has been lovely to see their growing confidence in recognising the sound and joining in.

In Maths, our focus has been positional language. We have also revisited ordering numerals and used one of our cheeky pirates to help us work out what number comes next, before and after. We even took our learning outside, moving around our outdoor environment using positional language - there was lots of laughter as we explored this in a practical and playful way!

At Forest School, we took part in an adult supported litter pick, linking beautifully to our learning about Earth Day. The children used their fantastic thinking skills to consider how we can look after our planet. This led to some lovely discussions about the Earth and how it was formed, showing great curiosity and awareness of the world around us.

On Wednesday, we attended our WOW Service at church, where we sang with great gusto as always! Lilly spoke to us about the Disciples, explaining that they were Jesus’ special friends, which the children listened to with great interest. We were also very proud to hear Rev. Anne share such positive comments about how amazing the children are - it truly was a lovely moment.

The beautiful weather this week has brought so much joy to our outdoor learning, and the children have been very excited to explore some new equipment. They have particularly enjoyed the ‘slackline’ and have shown great maturity in listening to and following instructions to ensure everyone stays safe.

We have such a special time together in Nursery, and it is always a joy to see how each individual child contributes to our group. We often say we are a ‘Nursery family’, and it really does feel exceptionally special.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Warm wishes,

Mrs Grayson and the Nursery team
