Well, I can’t quite believe we have reached the end of another wonderful year in Nursery! It has flown by far too quickly, and what an incredible year of fun, laughter, learning and precious memories it has been.

Our final week began with a very important question, ‘What would we love to do one more time before the end of Nursery?’  The children had so many wonderful ideas, from milkshakes and homemade water wipes to discos, a magic carpet adventure and of course, a games afternoon! Together we created our own end-of-year wish list and as the week unfolded, it was a joy to tick off many of our favourite activities, with a few extra surprises along the way.

Amongst all the excitement, we still found time for lots of learning. In Phonics, we learnt our final special friend sound, ‘u’, while in Maths we enjoyed active number games that had us moving, thinking and working together. We also returned to one of our favourite activities – yoga - taking time to slow down, stretch and simply enjoy being together. Most importantly, we celebrated the wonderful friendships that have blossomed throughout the year.

Wednesday saw us attend our final WOW Service at Church. Even the warm weather couldn't stop us singing our hearts out! A huge thank you to Anne and Lilly for always making every WOW Service so special. Reception did a fantastic job leading the service as they prepare for their move into Year 1.

We have also been incredibly lucky to watch the ‘Year 6 Leavers’ Production’. The children were completely captivated, sitting beautifully throughout and thoroughly enjoying the singing, acting and storytelling. It was a lovely reminder of being part of our wider school family and all the exciting milestones still to come. On Thursday, our Nursery children enjoyed meeting the current Year 5 pupils who, for some, will become their Reception Buddies in September. It was heartwarming to see such kindness, care and sensible behaviour as the children spent time getting to know one another.

With the summer holidays just around the corner, we were delighted to welcome Mr Rigby, who shared his experiences of being a pilot. The children were fascinated and asked some wonderful questions. We also spent time learning about water safety, discussing how to stay safe at the beach, swimming pool, rivers and streams - such an important life skill.

As our year together draws to a close, we have loved reflecting on our learning journey. Looking back through the many stories, topics, adventures and experiences we have shared - from being visited by the fire service and caring for tadpoles to Forest School, pirate adventures and our class trip - the children were amazed at just how much they have learnt and achieved. It has been a wonderful reminder that Nursery is about so much more than learning facts; it is about building confidence, nurturing friendships and creating memories that will stay with us for years to come.

We have also spent time preparing for the exciting changes ahead. Some of our children are ready for Reception, whilst others will remain with us as they welcome new friends into our Nursery family. Although change can feel big when you are little, we hope our Successful Start Transition Guide combined with conversations at home will help make this next chapter feel exciting and full of possibility.

It has been the greatest privilege to watch your children grow. They have made us laugh, filled our days with wonder and reminded us daily of the joy found in the smallest moments. Every single one of them has brought something unique to our Nursery family and each one truly does ‘shine brightly.

Finally, may we, as a team say a huge thank you to you all, for the wonderful support you have given throughout the year. Working together in partnership has been such an important part of your child's Nursery journey, and we are truly grateful for the trust you have placed in us. Thank you also for every kind word, thoughtful card and generous gift. Your kindness has completely blown us away and means more to us than you will ever know. Your kindness has truly blown us away.

I'll leave you with one of my favourite quotes from Dr Seuss, which feels so fitting as another chapter begins:

"You're off to Great Places! Today is your day!  Your mountain is waiting, so... get on your way!"

With much love, hugs and a family-filled summer break full of love and laughter,

Mrs Grayson and the Nursery team
