This week in Reception, we have had a lovely time learning together and thinking about how special and unique we all are.

In RE, we explored the wonderful idea that God loves every one of us. We talked about our names, who chose them and why they are so important to us. The children enjoyed sharing stories about their names and discussing how it feels when someone remembers and says our name. We learned that Christians believe everyone is special to God and that our names are written on the palm of His hand. The children carefully drew around their hands and wrote their names on them, creating a beautiful reminder of how loved and valued we are.

Our learning this week focused on Harvest and the story Oliver's Vegetables. We discovered where some of our food comes from and learned about the important work farmers do to grow the fruit and vegetables we enjoy eating. We talked about how Harvest is a time for saying thank you and for helping people who may not have enough food. The children loved exploring different vegetables, discussing their favourites and creating wonderful drawings and paintings inspired by them.  We were also lucky to have a visit from a tractor, we talked about what a tractor is used for and how important it is for Farmers to be ableto do their job, we even got to sit inside the Tractor.

In Maths, we have been developing our sorting skills. The children sorted objects in different ways, created their own sorting rules and began comparing groups using language such as more, fewer and the same. We were impressed by their growing confidence in explaining their thinking and finding different ways to organise objects.

In Phonics, we learned the sounds c, k, u and b. The children practised recognising the sounds, forming the letters correctly and beginning to blend sounds together to read simple words. They have particularly enjoyed our Fred Talk games and are becoming increasingly confident in their phonics sessions.

Finally, we have been practising our Harvest songs ready for our WOW worship and have enjoyed singing together with great enthusiasm. We are so proud of how well the children are settling into Reception, showing kindness to their friends and growing in confidence every day.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for your continued support.
