We hope you all enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend and had a lovely time together We have had a busy and exciting week back in Reception, full of thoughtful discussions and fun learning experiences.

In RE, we began exploring the idea of special places. The children enjoyed talking about why school is a special place for them and what makes it feel safe, happy, and important. We also talked about church as a special place and learned how Jesus used the temple as a place to pray and feel close to God. The children shared some really meaningful ideas and listened carefully to one another’s thoughts.

This week we also took time to celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday . The children loved talking about his work and how he has helped people to learn more about animals, plants, and our amazing planet. This linked beautifully with our learning about nature and encouraged the children to think about how we can look after the world around us.

In Maths, the children have been further exploring the properties of shapes and their spatial relationships. Building on their knowledge of positional language, they began to explain more complex shape arrangements, thinking carefully about how shapes fit together. We also extended this learning by identifying shapes within shapes, encouraging children to look closely and describe what they could see.

Our learning in Understanding the World continued with the life cycle of a frog. The children have loved revisiting this topic, and we ended the week with lots of smiles and laughter while singing and acting out Five Little Frogs Jumping on a Lily Pad – a super and joyful way to finish our week!

Well done, Reception, for another fantastic week of learning We are so proud of your curiosity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful ideas.
