What a Fabulous Week in Reception!
What a wonderful week we have had in Reception! The children have been busy learning, exploring and sharing lots of exciting experiences together.
In RE, we have started thinking about special places. The children shared some lovely ideas, and many of them said that our outdoor area is a very special place to them. We talked together about why it feels special and how we could make it even more special for everyone. Thank you so much to those of you who have already sent in photos of your child’s special places — we are really looking forward to sharing and talking about these together next week.
In Maths, we have begun learning all about sharing. The children have been developing their understanding of what sharing means, exploring the difference between fair (equal) sharing and unfair (unequal) sharing. Through practical activities such as sharing snacks and playing group games, the children have been noticing when things are fair and when they are not. We have also been practising how to share objects carefully by giving one item at a time to each person. The children are beginning to understand that sometimes things cannot be shared equally and that there might be some items left over. They have approached this learning with great enthusiasm and thoughtfulness.
We have also started learning about the life cycle of a ladybird. The children have loved listening to a range of ladybird-themed stories, and we particularly enjoyed exploring the outdoor area to look for real ladybirds! We talked about the types of habitats they like and where we might find them.
In our creative area, the children have continued to enjoy exploring clay. This week, they carefully designed their own minibeast sculptures, and we are very excited to begin creating these next week!
It has been such a busy and engaging week, and we are so proud of all the children’s learning and enthusiasm.
Have a lovely weekend!
