Wow – Week 3 already! We simply cannot believe how quickly the weeks are flying by!

It has been another busy and exciting week for the children. On Monday, they all sat beautifully for their class photograph. Everyone looked so smart and shared the most fabulous smiles – we are very proud of them!

In our learning, we have continued to build on our phonics skills, focusing particularly on reading with expression and finding information within the text after reading. The children are becoming more confident and thoughtful readers, which is lovely to see.

In Maths, the children have been drawing information from maps and using models as representations. Their previous experiences of building and recreating scenes have supported them well, helping them to begin creating simple maps of familiar places. We have also been encouraging imaginative thinking through storytelling, posing questions such as, “What if Little Red Riding Hood didn’t go straight to Grandma’s house?” The children have enjoyed thinking creatively and even mapping the story of Rosie’s Walk.

In our theme work, we have begun exploring ‘Superheroes’. The children have been thinking about what makes a superhero and discussing whether there are superheroes in real life. They then had great fun discussing their favourite Superhero and planning where our learning will take us over the next few weeks!

We hope all fathers and grandparents have a peaceful weekend and enjoy celebrating Father’s Day on Sunday.
