Reception - Summer 2 - Week 5
Date: 1st Jul 2026 @ 2:25pm

WOW – another week has flown by, and what a wonderful week we have had!
In Phonics, the children continue to wow us with how far they have come. They are becoming increasingly confident at using their phonics knowledge to support both their reading and writing, and we are so proud of their progress.
In Writing, we have continued to develop good pencil grip and correct letter formation. The children have worked really hard to form their letters carefully and correctly. Well done, Reception!
In Maths, the children have been consolidating and practising their understanding of comparing and ordering measures, as well as developing their understanding of the composition of number. They have been given opportunities to solve problems and explore different possible solutions. The children have also enjoyed playing games that encourage them to practise addition strategies by adding up scores and comparing numbers to work out who has won.
As we prepare for our final WOW Service, we have continued to reflect on our special times together in Reception. The children will have the opportunity to share their paintings and talk about their favourite memories from the Reception year. It has been lovely hearing them recall all the wonderful experiences they have enjoyed.
We have also started thinking about designing boats using junk modelling. The children recalled everything they have previously learned about floating and sinking and explored different types of boats to help inspire their designs. I cannot wait to see how their models turn out!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
