Year 2 - Autumn 1 - Week 1
Date: 3rd Sep 2026 @ 7:24pm

Welcome back, Year 2! We are so happy to have you back in school and have loved hearing all about your summer holidays and adventures. It has been wonderful to see everyone returning with such big smiles, positive attitudes and enthusiasm for learning. We have had a fantastic first week together and have already begun making some amazing memories in our new classroom.
This week, we were welcomed into our Year 2 classroom with a very special surprise from the Trolls! King Peppy had an important mission for us to complete. The magical harp had lost its strings, and it was our job to help restore harmony by using our school SHINE values. Throughout the week, we explored what it means to Serve, Hope, Imagine, Nurture and Enjoy, thinking carefully about how these values help us to be the best versions of ourselves.
The children worked brilliantly together, sharing ideas and reflecting on how they can demonstrate the SHINE values both in school and beyond. We discussed the importance of celebrating our differences, showing kindness to others, persevering when things are challenging and always treating one another with respect. We also thought about how important it is to have fun, enjoy learning and support our friends along the way.
Using stories, discussions and creative activities, we helped the Trolls understand how the SHINE values could restore the strings on the harp and bring harmony back to their world. The children impressed us with their thoughtful ideas and mature reflections, showing just how ready they are for the exciting challenges that Year 2 will bring.
I am incredibly proud of the fantastic start that everyone has made. The children have demonstrated excellent manners, behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the week.
We cannot wait to continue our learning journey together and see all the wonderful things that Year 2 has in store for us.
Reminders for next week:
• PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Outdoor Learning will take place on Fridays.
