Year 2 - Summer 2 - Week 7
Date: 15th Jul 2026 @ 9:20pm
And that's a wrap!
We have finally made it to the end of the year and, wow, what a ride it has been! From exciting trips and creative projects to making memories with friends and learning lots of new skills, Year 2 has certainly been a year to remember. We couldn't think of a better way to finish than with one last action-packed week!
This week, the children enjoyed taking part in Computing Day, where they investigated what communication is and why it is important to be kind and safe online. The children explored a range of different apps before creating their own online digital diaries. They had to navigate the app Book Creator, adding pictures, text and voice recordings. Although they found this trickier than expected, it taught them a range of valuable computing skills.
We were lucky enough to take part in an exciting skateboarding session on Monday. Who knew we were so talented? Wrapped up in protective gear, we practised a series of tricks on our boards and even moved around with confidence. Watch this space!
We also linked our Art and History lessons by creating our very own Victorian silhouette paintings with seaside sunset backgrounds. Mixing a range of colours, we used different tones to create beautiful backdrops before carefully cutting out our silhouettes, just as people did on Victorian beaches.
In English, we wrote letters to our future selves. We thought about what we wanted to achieve next year, both inside and outside of school, and wondered how we would feel about Year 4! The children loved including rhetorical questions for effect and then added illustrations showing some of their favourite memories from this year.
In PE, we concluded our striking and fielding lessons with an epic game of foot rounders. We worked together in teams to score as many runs as possible and all agreed that the sunshine made it even better!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents and families for your continued support throughout the year. Your encouragement, kindness and partnership have helped to make this year such a success. We are also incredibly grateful for the thoughtful cards, gifts and kind words we have received. They have been very much appreciated.
From all of us here in Year 2, we wish you a fun, restful summer and cannot wait to see how much you grow over the holidays!
Happy Holidays!
