Year 3 - Autumn 1 - Week 5
Date: 30th Sep 2026 @ 8:45pm
What an action-packed week we have had in Year 3!
In English, we have begun exploring our new quality text and meeting Dr Morley, an Arctic explorer searching for the elusive Arctic jellyfish. The children are enjoying discovering her adventures, and we are looking forward to writing our own recounts.
In Maths, we have moved on to addition and subtraction, practising adding and subtracting ones and tens. In Science, we continued learning about the human body and its functions, looking especially at out skeleton and we cut out a model skeleton, then labeled the different bones and parts.
In RE, we learnt about Eric Liddell and how he shared his Christian faith, stuck by his belief about the day of rest and explored how his actions link to our learning about being called by God. In Geography, we turned our attention to European capital cities and used atlases to locate them and put them onto our maps.
Tuesday brought a fantastic trip to Liverpool to learn all about The Beatles! We met our tour guides at the Albert Dock before setting off on a fascinating bus tour. Along the way, we heard stories about the band, enjoyed some of their wonderful music and stopped for photographs at the Penny Lane sign and Strawberry Fields. We then ate our lunch in the world famous Cavern Club before heading back to school.
The visit has left us feeling inspired and excited for our performance in November!
A TTRS battle has been set up and the class has been split up into two teams to battle againest eachother, it begins today and ends at 7pm 11.10.26. I have also set a task on Sumdog for every child which recaps the areas that we have covered on Place Value and the first three areas of Addition and Subtraction. I will set tasks every couple of weeks for the children to complete if possible as this will support their maths work.
Have a lovely weekend.
