Year 3 - Autumn 1 - Week 7
Date: 14th Oct 2026 @ 10:07pm
What a wonderful week we have had in Year 3!
In English, the children have shown fantastic imagination and developing writing skills through their recounts of Captain Morley’s adventures in the Arctic, searching for the giant Arctic jellyfish.
In Maths, we have been learning to use the written column method for addition and subtraction with three-digit numbers. The children have approached this with enthusiasm, and next week we will build on their understanding by introducing exchanging.
In Geography, the children enjoyed choosing a European country, researching it using their Chromebooks and presenting their findings to the class. In Science, we explored the muscles in our bodies and the amazing ways they help us move throughout the day.
Our outdoor learning session was full of creativity! The children collected natural materials to make frames, then created artwork inside them. They worked together beautifully and were proud of their creations. Some photos are attached.
We finished the week with a wonderful day at Laurel’s Wood, where the children threw themselves into team challenges, nature crafts and other outdoor activities. It was lovely to see their enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day. More photographs will follow next week.
Well done, Year 3—we are very proud of you!
Have a lovely weekend.
