Year 3 - Summer 1 - Week 2
Date: 22nd Apr 2026 @ 1:52pm

In RE, we listened to the story of Moses and learned about the Ten Commandments. We talked about the impact the commandments had and why they are important to many people today.
During Collective Worship, we discussed what resilience means. We shared ideas about how we can be more resilient, such as not giving up when things feel difficult and learning from our mistakes.
In Maths, we have been learning all about scale. We started by looking at scale on a number line and learning how to work out missing values. After that, we moved on to using scales to find mass, carefully reading the scale and weighing different objects.
In English, we have focused on expanded noun phrases and how adjectives can make our writing more interesting and detailed. We have also been practising writing in the present perfect tense, which has helped us explain things that have already happened more clearly.
In Outdoor Learning, we went on a colour hunt. We explored our outdoor area and noticed new plants and shrubs that have started to grow, looking carefully at the different colours around us.
In History, we explored Ancient Egyptian writing. We learned about hieroglyphs and even had a go at writing our own messages using Egyptian symbols.
In Science, we learned about rocks. We discovered how rocks are formed and learned about the different types of rocks, including how they are used in everyday life.
In Art, we studied Ancient Egyptian art. We stained our paper using teabags to make it look old and then used oil pastels to create our own Egyptian drawings. The finished artwork looked amazing!
