Year 3 - Summer 2 - Week 2
Date: 11th Jun 2026 @ 4:29pm

In RE this week, we explored how harvest is mentioned in the Bible and discussed why it is such an important time of giving thanks. We looked at different stories and messages about sharing and gratitude. To finish our learning, we got creative and wrote our own Harvest acrostic poems, carefully choosing words that reflected the meaning of this special time.
In Maths, we focused on digital clocks and learning how to tell the time using am and pm. We practised reading different times throughout the day and understanding the difference between morning and afternoon/evening times. The class worked really hard and showed great improvement in their confidence!
In English, we used our imagination and travelled all the way to the River Nile! We practised using the present perfect tense to write a diary entry about the amazing things we might see on our journey. From spotting wildlife to describing the beautiful scenery, the children produced some fantastic descriptive writing.
In Design and Technology, we became designers! We designed our own castles and carefully thought about the materials we would need to build them. We considered strength, durability and what would make our castles both strong and impressive. There were some very creative ideas.
In Science, we explored what plants need to survive. We learnt that plants need water, sunlight, air, and nutrients to grow healthy and strong. We discussed how each of these elements helps plants and considered what might happen if a plant doesn’t get what it needs.
In Geography, we travelled to India and learned about its mountain ranges. We discovered how mountains are formed and used maps to locate where these ranges are found. The children enjoyed exploring different landscapes and learning how they were created.
