What a fantastic week we have had in Year 3! The sunshine has been shining, and we have made the most of it by enjoying ice pops and cool drinks to keep us refreshed while learning.

In RE, we learned about sukkahs and what they are used for. The children then designed their own sukkahs, carefully thinking about what materials and features would be needed. There were some very creative and thoughtful ideas!

In English, we have been working hard on using the present perfect tense. We have also been researching giraffes using zoo websites and learning lots of fascinating facts. Using this knowledge, we practised writing persuasive sentences, such as encouraging others to “come and see the giraffes!” We focused especially on describing northern giraffes using exciting and specific vocabulary to make our writing more powerful.

In Maths, our learning has been all about time. We have been: converting time (minutes to hours and vice versa), calculating the time between events, recapping how to read digital clocks. Everyone has been working really hard to build their confidence and accuracy with time!

In Science, we carried out a fun and interesting experiment using celery and food colouring. We observed how the coloured water travelled up the celery’s veins. This helped us understand how water is transported through plants. It was exciting to watch the changes happen over time!

We had so much fun watching our very own class times tables music video, which we have been helping to create. It will be a great way to support our times tables learning, everyone was so proud and excited to see it come together!

In Geography, we have been learning about human and physical features in three different cities. To bring our learning to life, we went outside into the shade and used oil pastels to draw some of the features we had studied. The artwork was fantastic!
