Year 3 - Summer 2 - Week 5
Date: 2nd Jul 2026 @ 4:45pm

This week in Collective Worship, we spent time thinking about our school value of 'Enjoy' and what it means to us. We discussed how important it is to enjoy the opportunities and experiences we have, whilst also being grateful for them. The children shared thoughtful ideas about appreciating special moments with friends, family and at school.
In English, we have been writing formal letters to invite someone to the Giraffe Soirée, linked to our class book Zeraffa Giraffa. The children carefully considered the formal language they would use and included detailed descriptions to make their invitations appealing and engaging. We also took part in a TT Rockstars story writing session, which was great fun and inspired some fantastic creative writing. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
In Maths, we have been learning all about angles. We explored what a right angle looks like, made our own angle finders and went on a hunt around the school to spot examples of right angles in the environment. The children were excellent angle detectives!
During Outdoor Learning, the children were challenged to design and make something that could transport a small figure along a zip line. They showed great teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills as they tested and improved their designs.
In Geography, we explored Indian culture and discussed how aspects of it have spread and influenced countries around the world. We then looked at the beautiful patterns used in Rangoli art and created our own colourful designs.
In Design and Technology, we became architects and builders as we designed and constructed our own castles. Using nets, card and 3D shapes, the children carefully assembled their models. The finished castles looked absolutely amazing, and everyone was very proud of their creations.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
