Year 4- Autumn 1- Week 1
Date: 3rd Sep 2026 @ 9:44pm
It has been wonderful to welcome the children back to school this week and see their enthusiasm for learning.
Our first few days have been centred around The Explorer by Katherine Rundell. The adventure began when the children discovered a mysterious suitcase hidden in the gazebo. Inside were a collection of intriguing items, including a compass, a torch and some plane tickets. The children used their imagination and curiosity to make predictions about who the suitcase belonged to and why these items had been packed.
As we began reading the story, we discovered that the characters become stranded in the Amazon rainforest following a plane crash. Inspired by their journey, the children took part in a range of exciting activities over the week. They demonstrated all of our school SHINE values through teamwork, resilience and creativity as they worked together to build shelters and design rafts. They also wrote detailed and imaginative diary entries, putting themselves in the shoes of the characters, and created some beautiful artwork inspired by the rainforest.
It has been a week full of fun, adventure and collaboration, and we have been incredibly impressed by the children's positive attitudes and willingness to work together. We are looking forward to a happy, enjoyable and successful year ahead with Year 4!
