Year 4 - Autumn 1 - Week 5
Date: 28th Sep 2026 @ 1:55pm
An incredible week here in Year 4! Take a look at some of our highlights.
In Collective Worship, we explored how stories can be told in many different ways. We thought about how Jesus used parables to share God’s teachings and discussed how we can also use stories to guide, inspire and help others. In RE, we continued to reflect on the values God looks for in our hearts and the qualities we hope others can clearly see in us as we serve and support those around us.
In Maths, we marched around like Roman soldiers as we learned all about Roman numerals. The children have loved applying this new knowledge by writing the date in Roman numerals at the start of each Maths lesson. We also focused on rounding to the nearest 10 and 100, using our rhyme 5-9 climb the vine, 0-4 go to the floor, to help us decide whether to round up or down.
In English, we began planning our own narratives inspired by Leon and the Place Between. Using doodles, writer’s knowledge, key verbs and fronted adverbials, we mapped out the twists, characters and magical moments we want to include. Our stories will bring the world of the Place Between to life with our own imaginative adventures.
We also enjoyed not one but two fantastic trips this week. Our Magical Mystery Tour had us travelling around Liverpool to discover who the Beatles were, the impact they had on our local community and the incredible successes they achieved. On Friday, we headed to Laurel’s Wood, where we learned all about the importance of nature, conservation and the small ways we can help protect our environment. We are definitely a class who love the outdoors.
