Year 4 - Spring 2 - Week 5
Date: 24th Mar 2026 @ 1:53pm

With the end of the Spring Term upon us, we have spent some time reflecting on our fantastic achievements and all the exciting things we’ve been up to this week.
This term, we have been working hard to consolidate our knowledge of times tables ahead of the Year 4 Multiplication Check. We’ve discovered that we learn best through games such as Battleships, Monopoly and Top Trumps, as well as singing along to famous songs with a times tables twist. We also found a brilliant resource that allowed us to make our own times tables fortune tellers, meaning we could continue practising during break times and throughout the school day.
To mark World Maths Day, Year 4 took part in a range of team activities. The children worked together on number art, a maze directional challenge, and the £5 challenge. Speed, accuracy, and teamwork were all considered throughout the tasks.
We have thoroughly enjoyed reading the story When the Giant Stirred and took great pride in immersing our own characters into the narrative this week. Using our knowledge of fronted adverbials, dialogue and expressive language, we showcased our learning by rewriting the story with our own characters in mind.
On Wednesday, the children were delighted to spot the Easter Bunny hopping around school. We had a wonderful time dancing along and spreading some Easter cheer. We also enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, searching for hidden egg tokens in our outdoor environment before exchanging them for a tasty treat.
We ended the term in the best possible way by taking part in our Easter Service, led by the fantastic Year 3 children. It was amazing to watch their performance and see their incredible acting and singing come to life. Year 4 did a brilliant job supporting them with the songs and celebrating this special time of year.
