Another great week in Year 4!
It was time to get crafty in RE as we designed our very own churches. Following a step by step approach to outline the church building we then added finer details to show our understanding of key features. Our creations really came to life once we added stained glass windows using coloured tissue paper to achieve the effect.
As we draw closer to completing our Multiplication Check we are focusing on the trickier times tables and the strategies that help us master them. Songs, games and number lines are proving especially helpful as we work on recalling those more challenging facts. In Maths we have also been securing our understanding of plotting coordinates on a graph and locating points using the x and y axis.
Using the story Alba the Hundred Year Old Fish we explored the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans. We recalled the dangers plastic poses to the environment and living things before writing a persuasive letter to King Charles pledging for support with tackling the problem.
Geography took us into the lives of tribal communities and how their daily experiences differ from modern life. We recognised how they use the rainforest for survival and the ways the environment supports them, and Blooket continues to be a class favourite as we recall prior knowledge across a range of topics including electricity, multi faiths and plants. PE has also kept us active as we develop our striking skills in rounders and improve the accuracy of our swing in golf.
Have a wonderful weekend Year 4. See you next week for the last week of the Summer 1 term.
