Year 4 - Summer 1 - Week 6
Date: 21st May 2026 @ 8:38pm

The end of term is upon us, our spirits are high and we have lots of reasons to feel proud of ourselves for all we’ve achieved.
In RE, we designed noticeboards fit for standing outside our local churches. Our boards highlighted the special roles a church plays in bringing communities together. We represented the church through its services, community groups and the support it offers to those who need it.
In Maths, we moved on to position and direction, reminding ourselves how to describe movement using up, down, left and right. We calculated the movement needed to translate a shape from one point to another and used coordinates to locate positions, remembering to read the x‑axis before the y‑axis.
Inspired by the story Alba the 100‑Year‑Old Fish, we wrote vivid setting descriptions of vibrant ocean life before creating our own messages in a bottle from Alba. In our writing, Alba explained the predicament of living in polluted waters and asked for help, sharing the actions we can take to protect our oceans.
We revisited our field golf course on Friday to see if we could beat our score on each hole after a term of developing our golf skills. The children enjoyed challenging themselves and spotting how much progress they’ve made since the start of the unit.
Have a restful Half Term, Year 4!
