What an incredibly hot week it has been, yet Year 4 still put their utmost effort into everything they did. We were so proud of the resilience and positivity they showed, even in the heat.

A real highlight was welcoming the fantastic Scholastic UK Book Fair to school. The children were overjoyed to visit, browse and explore the brilliant selection of books on offer. After taking a sneak peek at some of the exciting reads, a few of us even headed back after school to make some purchases.

In RE, we explored what Christian prayers tell believers about God. The children examined a range of prayers and discussed what they reveal about God’s character and what Christians believe.

We looked at the magic of paragraphs in English and how they help us structure our writing. We focused on grouping ideas around a theme and then applied this to our descriptive writing about Blue John, creating a paragraph for each key idea.

In Maths, we recapped quadrilaterals and moved on to regular and irregular polygons. The children recognised that polygons are flat, 2D shapes with straight sides and enjoyed identifying and sorting them.

The week ended with a very exciting visit to Year 5, where the children had the chance to explore their new classroom and meet their new teacher, Miss Dalley. They left feeling excited and ready for their new adventures in September.

We also said a fond goodbye to Mr McPhee, who has been completing his teacher training with us this term. We are so grateful for everything he has brought to our classroom and wish him the very best of luck in his next steps.

Have a brilliant weekend, Year 4. See you on Monday!
