Year 4 - Summer 2 - Week 5
Date: 30th Jun 2026 @ 1:02pm

We have had a productive week in Year 4!
Our RE learning focused on writing our own prayers. The children drew on their prior understanding of who we pray for and considered meaningful reasons to pray this week, especially thinking about people in our community who may need support.
Maths lessons introduced our new topic on statistics. The class explored pictograms and discussed how the number of pictures changes when the key represents more than one person. They then created their own pictograms to show the class’s favourite pizzas and foods. We also took part in the Pobble + Times Tables Rock Stars Live session. The children joined the live lesson and completed a range of times‑tables activities.
Poetry has been our focus in English. The children used their senses to describe sounds and feelings linked to the forest and the sea. They later transferred their poems into their author books and added an island design to complete the page.
During PE, the class continued developing their tennis skills. They practised directing the ball over the net while keeping it within the court lines and worked with partners to test agility by aiming the ball to different areas of the court.
A memorable moment this week was the arrival of a real Formula 4 car on our playground. The children were thrilled to see the car up close and appreciated the chance to learn more about it.
Our clarinet lessons continued, with the class extending the number of notes they can play and performing short sections in unison.
In Art, the children used colour blending to create an ombre effect representing sunrise and sunset. They then applied this technique to produce a backdrop for the silhouette of a famous London landmark, leaving two white lines to give the impression of lights shining into the night sky.
Wishing everyone a restful weekend. We look forward to seeing you all on Monday!
