This week in English, we continued developing our understanding of modal verbs and used them to write a persuasive letter. We explored the difference between formal and informal language, and everyone enjoyed experimenting with new and interesting vocabulary choices. We were especially excited to use our laptops to type up our work and practise our typing skills.

In Maths, we carried on working with decimals, using addition and subtraction to solve a variety of problems. We also explored decimal sequences, looking carefully at patterns and counting forwards and backwards using tenths and hundredths. The class showed great focus and confidence with some tricky challenges.

Our learning continued across the curriculum too. In Geography, we learned about the difference between latitude and longitude and practised locating places around the world using coordinates. In Science, we studied how humans develop in the womb and created graphs to show growth over time, linking our science and maths skills together.

We made the most of the sunshine in PE, enjoying the fresh air while developing our skills through cricket and hockey. The children practised key techniques such as throwing, catching and dribbling, as well as working on teamwork and communication.

To finish the week on a high note, we began our music lessons on Friday with Mrs Hughes. We are all very excited to start learning to play brass instruments and can’t wait to see how our musical skills develop over the coming weeks!

Reminders:

  • PE days are Thursday and Friday.
  • Outdoor learning is each Thursday. As the weather is getting warmer, please send children in to school with hats and suncream, when necessary. Children are also welcome to bring a change of clothes for getting dirty.
