Year 5- Summer 2- Week 7

What a fantastic way to end a wonderful year in Year 5!

In English this week, the children put the finishing touches to their stories by carefully editing and improving their work before writing it out neatly in their author books. We are incredibly proud of the effort, creativity and perseverance they have shown. Looking through their finished stories really highlighted just how much progress they have made this year as writers.

On Monday, we enjoyed an exciting skateboarding workshop with Ollie. The children had great fun learning new skills and practising tricks, showing plenty of determination and resilience as they challenged themselves and supported one another.

We also spent lots of time on Design and Technology activities this week. We began by using Strawbees kits to follow instructions and create grabbers. Once they had mastered the basic design, the children got creative and adapted their models to make their own unique inventions. On Wednesday, it was time to put our DT skills into practice in the kitchen! Using the designs they had planned, the children made delicious pizza rolls. They adapted a basic recipe by choosing and adding different ingredients to suit their tastes. The finished products looked fantastic and, most importantly, tasted yummy!

Year 5 were also very excited to spend some time with Nursery on Thursday. It was lovely to see the children getting to know the younger pupils in preparation for becoming their buddies in September. They showed kindness, patience and responsibility, and we know they will make excellent role models.

As we reach the end of the school year, we would like to say what a real pleasure it has been to spend the year with this wonderful group of children. We have loved watching them grow in confidence, develop new skills and create many happy memories together.
