Year 6 - Spring 2 - Week 5
Date: 24th Mar 2026 @ 11:37am

What a final week of term we have had! With an Easter egg hunt, Easter quiz and even a visit from the Easter Bunny, there have been plenty of highlights.
A particular highlight of our English lessons came in the form of our ‘Great Eggscape’ activity. Our pupils became investigators, using their SPaG knowledge to analyse grammar clues, solve puzzle-based challenges and eliminate suspects one by one. Each task required careful thinking and investigative thinking as the class worked to uncover the Bandit’s true identity before he could escape with the Golden Egg forever. It was a fantastic way to bring grammar to life, combining problem-solving with learning and keeping everyone fully engaged in the hunt for the culprit!
In Maths, pupils also enjoyed an exciting Easter-themed mystery challenge. Working like both mathematicians and detectives, Year 6 pupils solved five different problems to uncover each clue. Along the way, they applied a range of key mathematical skills including the four operations, measurement, percentages, coordinates, ratio, formal division and calculating the area of triangles. Each correct answer brought them one step closer to revealing the egg’s secret location. Fantastic problem solving throughout!
We finished the week on a real high with our Easter Service, beautifully led by Year 3. It was made even more special by the singing from every class across the school, creating a truly powerful and uplifting atmosphere. A wonderful way to come together and celebrate at the end of a busy and exciting term.
It really has been a brilliant half term filled with hard work, enthusiasm and fantastic learning. We are incredibly proud of everything that the children have achieved and the effort that they have shown each day. We hope everyone has a wonderful and well-deserved break, and we look forward to seeing you all back next half term ready and raring to go!
Happy Easter!
Reminders:
-Year 6 PE lessons will continue to take place on Wednesdays (swimming) and Thursdays each week for the next half term.
- As previously communicated, the whole class has been provided with optional revision homework for both Maths and English, which would be beneficial for children to complete if time allows. This has been set via both the SATs Companion platform and the children have also been given a set of printed resources to use at home too.
-School re-opens on Monday 13th April.
