Year 6 - Summer 1 - Week 3
Date: 29th Apr 2026 @ 9:49pm
.
Year 6 have enjoyed another productive week of learning, making the most of the sunny weather and working hard throughout!
In Maths, Year 6 have been busy revisiting a range of key topics, from symmetry and translation to Roman numerals and money problem-solving. The week has also included plenty of maths games as well as a light-hearted ‘mock’ quiz, with questions written in a deliberately playful and humorous tone. This brought plenty of laughter to the classroom while still encouraging careful thinking and the application of their mathematical knowledge. At the end of the week, the children competed in a a 1% Club-style quiz!
In English this week, Year 6 have been further developing their SPaG skills with the help of some catchy songs, including those from Grammarsaurus and a firm Year 6 favourite, MC Grammar. These engaging resources have helped reinforce key grammar concepts in a fun and memorable way.
During their swimming session, Year 6 took part in their second water safety lesson, focusing on survival swimming while wearing clothing. The children built on their previous learning, exploring how clothing affects movement in the water and practising techniques to stay afloat and conserve energy. Both sessions were fun and engaging, helping to build confidence while reinforcing important life-saving skills.
In Collective Worship, the focus was on the weekly Big Question, exploring what it means to be part of a community. The children took part in thoughtful discussions about the many different communities to which we belong, including school, family, clubs, sports teams and church.
We are incredibly proud of everything Year 6 have achieved this week and hope you all have a relaxing and well-deserved long weekend. See you on Tuesday!
