Year 6 - Summer 1 - Week 4
Date: 6th May 2026 @ 11:58am

As we reach the end of another busy and productive week, we want to take a moment to say just how proud we are of our Year 6 pupils. Their focus, determination and positive attitude have really stood out and they have approached each day with maturity and resilience. Whether tackling tricky maths questions, analysing texts in reading or practicing grammatical terms, they have shown just how far they have come.
What has been especially pleasing to see is the way the children have supported one another in lessons. There has been a real sense of togetherness in the classroom, with encouragement, kindness and teamwork evident throughout the week.
In English, Year 6 have been getting creative with their SPaG revision by transforming rolls of wallpaper into giant grammar revision walls! Working collaboratively, the children used coloured pens, diagrams, examples and challenges to showcase their knowledge of punctuation, grammar and spelling. From fronted adverbials and relative clauses to apostrophes and semicolons, the space was filled with discussion, teamwork and some brilliant creativity.
In Maths, we recapped a wide range of key topics through collaborative tasks, partner discussions, games and problem solving challenges. The children demonstrated excellent resilience and determination throughout, particularly when explaining their methods and whilst solving increasingly complex problems.
This week also marked a special milestone as the children enjoyed their final swimming session of Year 6 and of their primary school journey. It was a fun session involving floats, games with friends and laughs aplenty. A fitting way to round off their time swimming at primary school!
We are looking forward to a calm and positive week ahead and we know the children will approach it with the same determination they have shown all year. Well done, Year 6; you’ve got this!
