Year 6 - Summer 1 - Week 6
Date: 19th May 2026 @ 11:14am

As we reach the final week of this penultimate half term, Year 6 have enjoyed taking part in a range of exciting activities and are already looking ahead to the many memorable events still to come before the end of the academic year.
As well as delving into the history of crime and punishment and exploring graffiti art in Art & Design, the children have also engaged in thoughtful reflection, considering the personal achievements, memorable experiences and important lessons they have gained throughout the year. Inspired by our school’s Christian vision, the children considered how they have grown both academically and personally, as well as the legacy they hope to leave behind as they prepare for the next stage of their journey and continue to “let their light shine” in all that they do.
A firm favourite this week was our Maths-related ‘Pirate Game’, which was introduced to the children for the very first time in Year 6. With so many rules and twists, it would be difficult to fully explain here; however, the words lively, fast-paced and chaotic certainly spring to mind! The children embraced the challenge brilliantly and it was wonderful to see the whole class playing with such enthusiasm, humour, resilience and kindness throughout. Well done to everyone for making it such a success!
Alongside this, the children have also been developing their understanding of probability through different investigations. Looking ahead to after half term, Year 6 will continue an exciting theme park project in Maths, where they will design their own parks using a range of mathematical skills ahead of our upcoming trip to Alton Towers - something the children are already very much looking forward to.
As this busy half term draws to a close, we want to take a moment to say how proud we are of each and every child in Year 6. They have continued to show real warmth, resilience and enthusiasm in all aspects of school life, supporting one another and approaching every challenge with a positive attitude. It has been a genuine pleasure to watch them grow in confidence and maturity, and we are very much looking forward to enjoying their final half term together at primary school.
In the meantime, enjoy a brilliant half term break!
