As we begin the final half term of primary school, there is a real mixture of excitement and reflection in Year 6. We are very much looking forward to making the most of our remaining time together. This half term will be packed with memorable experiences, including our end-of-year production, leavers service, transition activities, Sports Day, special events and, of course, plenty of opportunities to celebrate all that the children have achieved during their time at primary school.

In Maths, we have continued with our theme park project which also coincides with our upcoming trip to Alton Towers. The children have been applying their knowledge of number, calculation and problem-solving to real-life scenarios by designing and managing their own theme parks. They have been working with budgets, calculating running costs, setting ticket prices and predicting profits, all while considering how to make their park both successful and appealing to visitors. It has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to see how Maths is used in the real world and to develop their financial reasoning skills.

As part of our English learning, we discovered that theme parks need effective advertising to attract visitors. We explored a range of real-life adverts and identified the persuasive techniques used to capture people's attention, including catchy slogans, powerful vocabulary and rhetorical questions. Using these ideas, we planned and created our own theme park advertisements, carefully choosing language to excite potential customers and persuade them to visit. The children showed great creativity and produced some fantastic pieces of persuasive writing.

In Spanish, the children worked collaboratively to deepen their vocabulary and speaking skills. Each group was assigned a different topic, including pets, rooms in the house, body parts, family members, greetings, transport and the weather. They researched and practised key words and phrases before creating an informative poster presentation to showcase their learning. The children confidently presented their vocabulary to the class, developing both their language knowledge and their speaking and listening skills. It was fantastic to see their creativity and enthusiasm as they shared their Spanish learning with others.

In RE, we reflected on the Christian value of hope and considered how hope can act as an anchor in our lives. Drawing on the image of an anchor holding a ship firm during a storm, the children considered how faith, family, friendship and prayer can help people remain strong through life's challenges. We explored how hope encourages us to look forward with confidence and trust, even in difficult circumstances.

Well done, Year 6, for continuing to work so hard. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and we look forward to another exciting week of learning on Monday. We are also very excited to share our leavers' production script with the children next week - we can't wait to see their reactions!
