What a week it has been for Year 6! As our final half-term at primary school gathers pace, there has been a real buzz of excitement around school.

In English, we received our Leavers' Production scripts and found out which parts we will be playing. Now, it's time to learn those lines as rehearsals begin to gather momentum. We already can't wait to share our performance with you in just a month's time!

In Maths, Year 6 have been applying their percentage skills to a real-life theme park project. We worked out the profit made on different attractions, food stalls and souvenir shops by calculating percentages of costs and sales. Using our understanding of percentages, we compared profits across the park and explored ways to increase earnings. This exciting project helped us see how maths is used in business and decision-making, while developing our confidence in solving practical problems.

As part of Collective Worship, we also spent time exploring the lyrics of songs connected to change and moving on. As Year 6 begin to think about the transition to secondary school, the children reflected on the emotions that come with leaving familiar surroundings and embracing new opportunities. This prompted some mature discussions and gave everyone a chance to celebrate how much they have grown during their time at primary school.

On Thursday, it was time for our final Year 6 trip with a visit to Alton Towers. The weather seemed determined to give us a memorable send-off, treating us to what may well have been the wettest school trip in history! Despite the relentless rain, spirits remained high throughout the day. Armed with waterproofs and a sense of humour, the children splashed their way around the park, taking on rides, dodging puddles (or jumping straight through them) and making the most of every moment. By lunchtime, many of us had accepted that staying dry was simply not an option! The weather certainly tested our resilience but it also created plenty of laughter and unforgettable memories. As one of their final experiences before leaving primary school, we certainy made the best of the day and, if nothing else, everyone now knows exactly how waterproof their coat really is!

Year 6 are certainly ready for a well-earned rest this weekend. We hope everyone has the chance to relax, recharge their batteries and dry off before another exciting week ahead. See you on Monday!
