Year 6 - Summer 2 - Week 4
Date: 24th Jun 2026 @ 8:18pm

Another busy and enjoyable week has flown by in Year 6! This week was an especially exciting one for Year 6 as most of the cohort spent a day at their future high schools for Transition Day. Whilst the classroom felt a little quieter than usual and we certainly missed having them around, it was fantastic to welcome them back on Friday and hear all about their experiences. From meeting new teachers and classmates to finding their way around unfamiliar buildings, it sounds like everyone embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm and maturity.
In Art this week, we created journey silhouettes - a thoughtful piece that encouraged us to reflect on how far we have come and look ahead to the future. Using vibrant blended skies, winding pathways and silhouette figures, we represented our personal journeys and aspirations. We also included a symbol on the horizon to represent a future goal or dream. The finished artwork was both visually striking and highly individual, giving each child the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and think positively about the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
In our Maths learning, we have started each day by putting our problem-solving skills to the test with a range of creative questions designed to make us think deeply and explain our mathematical thinking. The tasks encouraged us to work systematically, spot patterns, justify our answers and consider different approaches to solving problems. It was great to see the resilience and determination shown by the children as they tackled some tricky challenges and persevered to find solutions.
Our leavers' performance has now progressed to the stage and the children are working hard to bring their characters and scenes to life. This week, they have begun incorporating props into their performances and have focused on improving their projection, expression and tone of voice when delivering their lines. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they begin to refine their performances, demonstrating strong speaking and listening skills and bringing increasing character and personality to each scene.
As another busy week draws to a close, we can look back with pride on all that has been achieved. With just two weeks to go until our leavers' performance, excitement is certainly beginning to build. The children have worked incredibly hard and are looking forward to bringing everything together on stage. Alongside this, we are determined to make the most of our final weeks together, creating lasting memories and enjoying every moment of our Year 6 journey. Until then, have a great weekend!
