Year 6 - Summer 2 - Week 6
Date: 7th Jul 2026 @ 2:38pm

It is hard to believe that this was our final full week together as Year 6 and, indeed, at Trinity St Peter's. With our leavers' performance now just days away, excitement is really beginning to build. After this week’s rehearsals, the children are feeling prepared, confident and ready to share all of their hard work with family and friends next week. We can't wait!
Our Collective Worship provided the perfect opportunity for the children to look back on their time at Trinity St Peter's. Each child created a 'TSP Memories' art piece, placing a star at the centre and surrounding it with illustrations of the people, places and experiences that have meant the most to them. From unforgettable trips and the school residential to friendships, performances and everyday moments in school, the artwork was full of personality and happy memories. The finished pieces were a wonderful, reflective celebration of each child's unique journey through primary school.
In English, Year 6 completed their heartfelt thank-you letters to their Reception buddies. Reflecting on the special memories they have shared throughout the year, the children carefully expressed their appreciation for the friendships they have built and the time they have spent together. It was lovely to see the care and thought that went into each letter and we look forward to delivering them to our buddies as we celebrate the end of this very special partnership.
Year 6 welcomed Sally from the Sefton Mental Health Support Team (MHST), who delivered an informative transition session in preparation for the children’s move to secondary school. The children explored some of the common worries that can come with starting high school and discussed practical strategies for managing these feelings. They also learnt the difference between real and hypothetical worries, developed problem-solving techniques and practised calming strategies such as mindful breathing. It was a valuable opportunity for the children to reflect on the exciting journey ahead and to leave feeling reassured, confident and well prepared for their next chapter.
Following the completion of our leavers' dance, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Whitehead from Formby High School back into school. As a small token of our appreciation for all of her hard work and support in helping us prepare the dance, the children presented her with a thank-you card signed by the whole class, along with a gift. It was a lovely opportunity to thank Mrs Whitehead for the time, enthusiasm and encouragement she has shown our Year 6 pupils throughout the process.
Our final TSP Summer Fair as Year 6 was another fantastic success and a wonderful way to end the week. Despite the extremely hot weather, everyone made the very best of it, enjoying a wide range of activities in the school hall, exciting outdoor inflatables and plenty of fun with friends. Our Year 6 children also loved spending time with their Reception buddies, helping to chaperone them around the fair and sharing in the excitement together. A huge thank you goes to Mrs Gaskill and all of the Team TSP volunteers, whose hard work, organisation and dedication made the event possible. As always, it was a brilliantly organised day enjoyed by all.
It is hard to believe that we are about to begin our final week as a Year 6 class. There are still so many exciting moments to enjoy, from our leavers' performance and church service to our final celebrations. We are looking forward to making the most of every moment and creating memories that will stay with us long after we leave Trinity St Peter's. Enjoy your weekend, and we'll see you next week for one final, unforgettable week together!
