Nursery - Autumn 1 Week 4
Date: 25th Sep 2025 @ 5:11pm
What a fun and busy week we have had in Nursery!
This week, we’ve been diving into the classic tale of ‘The Little Red Hen’! The children absolutely loved hearing about the hardworking hen and her friends. As we read the story, we talked about the importance of teamwork and sharing, and how sometimes it’s okay to do things by yourself if others aren’t ready to help.
To bring the story to life, we had a special bread-tasting session! After talking about how the Little Red Hen made the bread from scratch, the children were excited to try different types of bread and share their thoughts on the flavours. It was a tasty, hands-on way to connect with the story and explore our senses.
We’ve also started to notice the changes in the weather as Autumn begins to arrive. The children enjoyed talking about the signs of the new season – the cooler air, the falling leaves and changes in their colour. At our ‘Creative Area’, we explored autumnal fruits and vegetables by doing some vegetable and fruit printing! It was so much fun experimenting with different shapes and colours, creating beautiful textured prints.
In Maths, we’ve been using positional language, exploring terms such as, ‘on’, ‘under’, ‘next to’, and ‘between’. The children enjoyed using toys and objects to help demonstrate these concepts in fun, interactive ways.
And to top it all off, we had our very first ‘Forest School’ session! The children were so excited to explore the great outdoors, and showed exceptional conduct walking to and from School. We learnt all about our fire circle and the rules we needed to follow to keep us safe, particularly when entering and leaving the circle. We can now, also recognise and know what to do when we hear our ‘Forest School’ call! In exploring our site, the children enjoyed collecting leaves, and twigs, and learning all about nature. It was a wonderful way to embrace the Autumn season and get our hands dirty (in the best way possible)!
Thank you for another fantastic week of laughter, learning, and discovery. We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend, and remember to keep an eye out for those Autumn leaves and treasures on your walks!
Warm wishes,
Mrs Grayson and the Nursery Team
