What a magical week we’ve had in Nursery!
We are simply bursting with pride after our ‘Nursery Christmas Sing-a-long’. What a wondrous moment of joy, pride, and fulfilment it was as we performed together. The children were outstanding — singing their festive songs beautifully for all their families. Dressed in our Christmas tops and performing as a true team, we absolutely blew everyone away… and rightly so! To celebrate our wonderful achievement, we enjoyed a tasty treat including a delicious hot chocolate!

With the arrival of 1st December, something very exciting happened… we discovered a few mysterious boxes in our classroom. Inside, we found ‘Santa’ and cotton wool, a special Santa-face countdown to Christmas, and an advent calendar containing a new book to discover and share each day. The children loved exploring the treasures and have been full of festive excitement ever since.

In Early Listening, we have been exploring a selection of percussion instruments, learning their names, experimenting with sound patterns, and discovering how to adjust volume — from soft, gentle jingles to loud, confident bangs! It has been wonderful to see the children grow more aware of how sound works.

In Maths, we have continued to explore simple repetitive patterns. We are becoming so confident that many children can now spot when an ‘AB pattern is wrong — a fantastic skill that shows just how much their mathematical thinking is developing.

Our festive classroom continues to spark joy, curiosity, and creativity. This week we enjoyed reading ‘A Christmas Story’ by Brian Wildsmith, learning about the very special night when Baby Jesus was born and the wondrous events surrounding it. The children listened with such interest and shared some beautiful reflections of their own.

We ended our week by making the most of the slightly milder weather. Outside, we especially enjoyed playing ‘Follow the Leader’ and pretending to dive into a swimming pool for a ‘swim’ — so much laughter, fun, and imaginative play!

What a week it has been! With singing, stories, celebrations, and festive magic filling our days, we can’t help but wonder… can Nursery life get any better?

We can’t wait to see what next week brings!

Thanking you for your continued support, warmest wishes,

Mrs Grayson and the Nursery Team
