What a wonderfully festive week we have had!

We began the week with our annual ‘Santa Dash', taking place at Forest School, where Santa needed our help to track down some very cheeky little elves! Thankfully, with a sprinkle of magic elf dust and lots of eager detective work, we managed to find all nine hiding elves. A brilliant start to our Christmas countdown!

Our classroom—and our feelings—have been overflowing with excitement as we’ve shared news from home, explored traditions, and soaked up all the seasonal sparkle. We talked about Christmas customs, especially the delicious food that comes with them, which inspired us to make our own mince pies. The children were fantastic bakers and very proud of their creations!

On Tuesday, Caroline joined us for Godly Play, where we each made a beautiful ‘Christingle’ and learned all about the special meaning behind it. The children listened with such interest and care.

Wednesday brought one of the highlights of the season: Christmas Lunch! Complete with table crackers, jokes, and plenty of giggles, it was a joyful feast. A huge thank you to Tim, Amanda and Jackie for filling our tummies and our hearts.

Later in the day, during WOW service in Church, we had the absolute privilege of watching Reception perform ‘The Nativity’. Their wonderful retelling of the birth of baby Jesus helped bring that very special night to life for us.

Many of the children also began their Christmas shopping with a visit to our ‘Christmas Present Room’, kindly organised and provided by Team TSP! They were so thoughtful in choosing gifts—they really loved the experience.

Friday was our Festive Christmas Extravaganza! Dressed in our Christmas jumpers, we threw ourselves into the fun and excitement of the day—and we were even lucky enough to visit Santa himself! A hugh thank you again to Team TSP for giving up your time to organise another fabulous event, we all loved every minute!

Keeping with the seasonal theme, in Early Listening we’ve been tuning into the sounds of Christmastime —everything from Santa’s jolly “Ho, ho, ho!” to carol singing and even the soft clip-clop of reindeer hooves. In Maths, we have continued building simple repeating patterns using gift bows and other festive objects, as well as counting small groups and recognising numbers to five.

We’ve also treasured our daily stories from the ‘storybook advent calendar’, plus tales created from the children’s favourite characters and objects.

I'd like to also applaud each child —  we have a class full of superstar coat zip fasteners! Their perseverance has been incredible; they’ve shown true SHINE spirit in having a go and not giving up -  just like Leo!

Well, I can hardly believe we are approaching the end of our very first term. Your children have absolutely blown me away with their enthusiasm, kindness and resilience. I hope they have loved every minute as much as I have.

Wishing you all a weekend full of love, warmth and festive fun—bring on next week!

Warm wishes,

Mrs Grayson and the Nursery Team
