We hope you have all had a lovely half term break. We have had such a great first week back!

This week we have started our new theme ‘Treasure Island’. On Monday, a pirate had left a set of clues that would lead to the treasure. Once the location had been found, the children had to dig to find the treasure box that was hiding in the sand pit. Each clue had a piece of a puzzle which when put together made a picture of our new book called, ‘Pirates Love Underpants’ by Claire Freedman. The children really enjoyed listening to the story and taking part in lots of different ‘Pirate’ themed activities around the room. We talked about what our own pirate name could be and the children have enjoyed dressing up as pirates and acting out a quest to find treasure with their friends.

On Tuesday we celebrated pancake day! We talked about the importance of 'Shrove Tuesday' and the children enjoyed choosing from a selection of toppings to put on their pancake.

On Wednesday the children went over to Forest school to look for signs of Spring. The children noticed lots of different types of flowers such as daffodils, snow drops and crocus. We talked about how to be mindful when walking around the forest, not to stand on the beautiful flowers as we could damage them. The children then listened carefully to see if they could hear any signs of Spring. What a lovely time we had!

In the afternoon we had our 'WOW' service at St Peters Church. Caroline and Anne talked to us about the importance of Lent. Caroline then came in on Thursday to talk to us about Jesus’s baptism. Thank you very much for everything you both do.

Yoto is the official partner for World Book Day this year! Their aim is to bring more ways to read for children and families through audiobooks. They can help more children access books and stories, and give all families new ways to have story and reading time together. They will be making a selection of audiobooks available for free via the Yoto App (app available for free on AppStore and GooglePlay) and will be donating £1 from the sale of selected Yoto Cards to the World Book Day Charity.

A range of free audiobooks are also available on the World Book Day World of Stories page.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Miss Dalley and the Nursery Team.
