Reception - Autumn 1 - Week 3
Date: 17th Sep 2025 @ 2:22pm
This week has been full of exciting learning and celebrations in Reception!
We continued our theme “I Am Special” by exploring the uniqueness of our thumbprints with magnifying glasses. The children were amazed to see that no two are the same! They used their prints to make “Thumbody Loves You” pictures, a lovely reminder that we are all special and cared for.
In phonics, the children are doing brilliantly as they continue to learn new sounds and play games using Fred Talk. They are becoming more confident every day. Please keep supporting this learning at home using the virtual classroom – it really makes a difference! Our maths learning has focused on counting carefully and understanding why we count – it helps us to know “how many.” The children have been practising counting objects, actions, and even sounds, making sure to count each one only once. They are also beginning to record their numbers independently, which is wonderful progress.
We joined in with International Dot Day, a celebration of creativity and making our mark! The children enjoyed making dot-themed pictures and decorating biscuits with colourful dot sprinkles – a fun (and tasty!) way to express themselves.
It has been a joyful week of learning, filled with discovery, creativity, and growing confidence.
