Reception - Autumn 1 - Week 4
Date: 24th Sep 2025 @ 8:29pm
This week in Reception
We have had such a busy and exciting week! The children have really enjoyed listening to Oliver’s Vegetables and using the story to inspire lots of learning. We talked about harvest and what it means, and even used real vegetables to print, observe and draw – the children created some amazing artwork!
We have also started learning about autumn, noticing seasonal changes and exploring the natural world around us. We visited forest School with Nursery to spot signs of Autumn and to introduce all to our Forest School rules.
In Phonics, we have continued learning new sounds – please keep practising these at home.
In Maths, we have been making collections of objects, discovering that two is made up of “one and another one,” and recognising when a collection has 3 objects, or when something is not 3.
In RE, we finished our “I am Special” topic by thinking about the importance of names. We discussed how names are sometimes chosen for special reasons, such as being named after a grandparent. Each child wrote their name on a hand to show that all our names are written on the hand of God.
It has been a wonderful week full of learning and creativity. Next week, we will continue to explore autumn and harvest.
Wishing you all a restful weekend and we’ll see you on Monday!
