What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Reception!

The children have loved celebrating Kindness Week. We’ve been using the phrase: “In a world where you can be anything, be kind” – and they’ve really embraced it! Together with their Year 6 buddies, the children created beautiful ‘Kindness Hearts’ with positive messages. Each child chose someone special to give their heart to. To top it all off, the children (and staff!) had great fun being filmed for our Kindness Celebration Video – we can’t wait for you to see it!

In Phonics, the children have been working incredibly hard. Please keep practising sounds and using Fred Talk at home – it really makes a difference. Thank you for your support!

In Maths, we explored sorting circles and triangles, then used different 2D shapes to create pictures and talk about what we used. We even went on a shape hunt around the environment to spot 2D and 3D shapes. We’ve also started learning about positional language – maybe you could continue this at home (e.g., “under”, “next to”, “behind”).

On Tuesday, we marked Remembrance Day with a two-minute silence, and again during our WOW service on Wednesday, which focused on ‘Remembering’. Each child made a poppy and laid it in church – a truly poignant moment.

Finally, on Friday, we celebrated Children in Need! We linked this to helping others, understanding different abilities, and the importance of charity. The children enjoyed lots of Pudsey-themed activities, including Pin the Bandana on Pudsey and Making a Pudsey Bear Headband.

Phew – what a fun-packed week! Please enjoy a restful weekend because we have another exciting week ahead!

Thank you, parents, for your continued support and encouragement at home – it really helps the children thrive. We hope you enjoy a restful weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week ahead!
