As part of our theme ‘Special People’ we were delighted to welcome Mark from Holy Trinity Church to our class. Mark talked to the children about his role in church and the community and then talked about Baptism with the children, we even had our own Baptism in class! Thank you Mark for your time, it was a lovely experience for the children.

The children are loving our Forest School sessions! After putting on their wellies and coats the children headed to our Forest School area, this week we continued the theme of bonfire night by using the natural resources around to create their own fire. We then talked about fire safety and how you should ever go near a fire. What a fantastic session and great teamwork!

The children have enjoyed learning about ‘Remembrance Day’ and why we celebrate it. The children enjoyed lots of different activities such as making poppies from loose parts and paper plates and even creating a soldier out of different pieces of paper, they looked incredible. The children also took part in a 2 minutes silence where they had time to think about and remember all of those who have been injured or died at war.

This week we have also started our theme ‘The Gingerbread Man’, we were very excited to find the home corner had been turned into ‘Gingerbread Cottage’. We have enjoyed listening to the story and identifying the different characters whilst retelling the story through our play.

In Maths this week, the children have been learning all about circles and triangles and practicing their skills of sorting. The children had to describe the shapes and the different properties of them. The children also began to recognise that a triangle can come in various forms! This exciting maths work led us onto learning all about the famous artist ‘Kandinsky’ where the children enjoyed creating their own picture in the style of Kandinsky using circles. The children ended the week by looking around the school to see if they could identify real life circles and triangles! I wonder if the children can spot any whilst they are out and about at home?

We ended the week by watching the school’s Kindness Video. We loved seeing ourselves, friends and families on the screen and couldn’t believe some of the teachers fabulous dance moves. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did!

'Love Reading for Kids' have released their early November newsletter. This includes a first look at their Christmas Books and Gift Guide which is full of great ideas for all readers. Books really do make the best presents so please do take a look!

We hope you all have a relaxing and peaceful weekend and look forward to seeing you all on Monday morning.
