Reception - Spring 2 - Week 6
Date: 31st Mar 2025 @ 1:35pm
What a fantastic half term we’ve had in Reception! We have been busy learning, exploring, and celebrating together.
- In our topic work, we have loved learning about animals from around the world, focusing on South America, South Africa, and Asia. We explored different habitats and discovered the amazing animals that live in them. We looked at a map of the world and labelled the different continents.
- In maths, we have been working on the number 10, learning about number bonds, composition, addition, subtraction, doubling, and halving. We also had fun exploring patterns and 3D shapes.
- In RE, we listened to stories that Jesus told and learned about the Easter story. A special highlight was our Easter bonnet service at church, where we celebrated together.
- In PE, we have enjoyed learning different dance routines, using counts of 8. We even got to make our own!
We have enjoyed taking part in lots of special events this half term:
• Red Nose Day – We had fun celebrating and raising money for a good cause.
• Mother’s Day – We made beautiful cards and baked delicious biscuits to show our love and appreciation.
• British Science Week – We became scientists, making rockets and launching them into the air using straws!
• Forest School – We loved exploring the changes in our surroundings as spring arrived.
• Design and Technology – We designed and made our own bookmarks, using our new sewing skills.
• Special Visitors – We had an exciting visit from the police, who told us all about the important work they do. We even got to have a look at their police car!
• Ramadan – We learned about this special time of fasting and reflection for Muslims. We talked about how to show kindness to those around us.
It has been a wonderful half term of learning and fun. We can’t wait for more exciting adventures next term!
Wishing everyone a happy and restful break!
